Foot Steering

As you progress instead of leaning the rig forwards and backwards to steer you will find it necessary to steer with your feet, this becomes particularly important when sailing in stronger winds on a reach, with the wind coming from behind or across you. The daggerboard should be retracted.

To turn into the wind push down on the windward side of your board with your heels.

To turn away from the wind push down on your toes and bend your knees so that more weight is on the side of the board furthest away from the wind.
